Till Schäberle

Professor, Head of Natural Product Research at University of Gießen & Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology (IME); Deutsches Zentrum für Infektionsforschung (DZIF)

Till Schäberle studied biology and did his PhD at the microbiology/biotechnology department at the University of Tübingen, Germany. This led the foundation for his natural product research career with a focus on antibiotics. As a postdoc, he worked at the University of Bonn (Germany) and had a stay at the University of California San Diego (USA). In 2017, he became professor at the Institute for Insect Biotechnology and the Fraunhofer IME Bioresources at Giessen.
The Mission and Vision of his research group is to discover and design new molecules, which open ways to improve and extend human well-being. They discover new lead structures for medicinal drugs and investigate the biosynthesis of these compounds. They target the tasks using genetic, biochemical, bioinformatic and chemical analytical methods.
