About:
The UK is a key global player in the global fight against antimicrobial resistance. The UK Government has invested more than £360m in R&D to tackle antimicrobial resistance and has a selection of government bodies that will be contributing to and represented at this year’s AMR virtual conference. These include:

The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) is the specialist Government department that helps UK-based companies access overseas markets, providing confidential advice and support necessary to assist companies in achieving their export goals.
It also helps overseas companies bring their high-level investment to the UK, providing professional, personalised and practical assistance and advice.

These services are offered through DIT’s extensive network of sector and market specialists both in the UK and in British embassies and diplomatic offices around the world.

The UK Science and Innovation Network (SIN) promotes and facilitates international collaboration in research and innovation. Science and Innovation is at the heart of the UK government’s strategy for promoting sustainable economic growth. There are around 100 SIN officers based in embassies or consulates in over 40 countries around the world. SIN Switzerland runs activities to facilitate research collaboration between UK and Swiss universities, research institutions and public-private sector counterparts; jointly exploring access to national or European funding opportunities and leveraging resources. The network can also help UK research performing companies strengthen their capacity to innovate, by facilitating R&D partnership meetings and organising visits to benchmark or access Swiss knowledge and technologies. SIN encourages dialogue on Research and Innovation between Swiss and UK policy makers and key players, looking at best practice in emerging science and technology, removing barriers to adoption and creating the right framework for innovation.

We engage with every country or organisation that is a member of, or an observer to, an international body where we are also members or observers. We focus on UK participation in international organisations and therefore don’t provide consular or visa services. Geneva is host to a vast range of UN bodies, agencies and programmes, as well as the World Trade Organization. Other important non-UN organisations such as the International Organisation for Migration, the Conference on Disarmament and the International Committee of the Red Cross are headquartered in Geneva. Many NGOs, faith groups and private sector organisations play an important advocacy role throughout the system. We work with these partners on a daily basis to ensure that UK interests and views are taken into account. This includes representing the UK in negotiations. The UK is a major supporter of the multilateral system in Geneva, with total funding commitments of approximately £2 billion per year.
