Bernhard Kerscher

Bernhard trained in microbiology and immunology at the MRC CMM in Aberdeen and the MRC LMB in Cambridge, before joining the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut as a biomedicines regulator. At PEI, he is currently heading an accredited medicines control laboratory for bacterial vaccines, provides scientific advice on the development of vaccines via PEI and EMA and is responsible for the preclinical assessment of clinical trial and marketing authorization applications. He’s a member of the EDQM/Ph.Eur. expert group 15 (sera/vaccines) and a WHO animal models working group.
His current scientific interests include laboratory automation, the development of animal models for efficacy testing of Gram-negative anti-infectives (IMI-COMBINE) and host-pathogen-treatment interactions (MSCA-TIPAT).
