Dr. Michael Hombach is an MD and board-certified specialist in medical microbiology (FAMH). He is currently the Chief Medical Partner in Infection & Immunity CDMA at Roche, where he integrates medical insights and market dynamics to advance patient care and business objectives.
Before joining Roche in 2017 as a Global Clinical Leader in Infectious Diseases, Michael was Co-director of the Diagnostic Microbiology Laboratory and Head of Applied Research Units at the University of Zurich, where he still holds an Associate Professor position. His research expertise covers antimicrobial resistance testing, mass spectrometry, and laboratory automation, resulting in over 50 impactful publications. Michael served on the EUCAST subcommittee for epidemiological cut-off setting. His focus is on driving medical value and clinical differentiation for key infectious diseases products.
