Christoph Dehio
Christoph Dehio earned his diploma in Biology (1989) and PhD in Genetics (1992) from the University of Cologne, Germany. He was postdoctoral fellow (1993-1995) at Institut Pasteur in Paris, France and research group leader (1995-2000) at the Max Planck Institute for Biology in Tübingen, Germany. Since 2000 he is Professor of Molecular Microbiology at Biozentrum, University of Basel, Switzerland. From 2016-2019 he was president of the National Research Project “Antimicrobial Resistance” (NRP72). Since 2020 he is director of the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) “Antiresist: New approaches to combat antibiotic resistant bacteria” (2020-2032). His current research interests center around a better understanding of pathogen physiology in patients and developing axenic and tissue-based model systems mimicking patient environments for studying molecular mechanisms underlying antibiotic resilience.
