Alessandra Martini
Alessandra Martini works at the European Commission as policy officer in the unit responsible for ‘Combatting Diseases’ in the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation.
She has been involved in designing research policies and has been responsible for portfolio management on infectious diseases, mainly for HIV/AIDS and vaccines. Since 2021, she took over research policies on antimicrobial resistance.
She has a long experience in biomedical research and worked for the medical technology company BD – Becton Dickinson prior to joining the European Commission is 2005, initially working on eHealth.
Alessandra received her University degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Rome La Sapienza, and her PhD in molecular genetics from the Catholic University of Leuven.
