Senior Expert, Impact Initiatives and Research Coordination, Antimicrobial Resistance Division, World Health Organization

Alexandra Cameron recently joined the World Health Organization’s AMR Division as Senior Expert. She is leading a team working on global initiatives to foster the development of new, high priority antimicrobial treatments and ensure appropriate and equitable access. Previously, Dr Cameron spent 11 years as a Senior Technical Manager at Unitaid. In this role, she led the development and implementation of strategies to support R&D, innovation and early product access across a range of portfolios including malaria, childhood fever management, reproductive and maternal health, and AMR. Prior to this, Dr Cameron spent several years at the World Health Organization supporting research and policy guidance related to access to medicines and pharmaceutical pricing. Dr Cameron has also worked at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in Canada, where she served as a Senior Policy Analyst for women’s health and gender. Dr Cameron holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from McMaster University, a Masters of International Public Health from the University of Sydney and a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Utrecht.
