
Holger Rohde
Holger Rohde is a medical microbiologist and deputy director working at the Institute for Medical Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene / University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). He is an appointed professor for Molecular Medical Microbiology, and leader of a research group focussing on pathogensis of staphylocccal diasesases and implant associated infections. Important additional areas of scientific activities include epidemiology and mechanisms of resistance in nosocomial Gram-positive and -negative pathogens, and implementation of new generation techniques to improve pathogen detection in clinical specimens. He was a member of the executive board of the focussed research group Microbial Pathogenicity (German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology; DGHM) from 2009 – 2022, and focussed research group speaker from 2019 – 2023. He served the ECCMID Program Committee from 2017 – 2019, and was a member of the SAS from 2019 – 2023. In 2019, he was appointed ESCMID Fellow. Since 2023 he is director of the ESCMID AMR Action Subcommittee.
