Lucas Boeck
Lucas Boeck is a medical professional who completed his medical degree in Innsbruck, Austria. His medical training took him to Basel, Switzerland, where he specialised in Internal and Respiratory Medicine and worked on several clinical studies. During this time, he contributed to various clinical studies. His expertise further expanded with a Postdoctoral Fellowship in genomics and experimental microbiology at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK. Since 2021, Lucas Boeck has been leading a research group at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel, Switzerland. Additionally, he works as a consultant in Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospital.
Lucas Boeck’s research is centred around molecular mechanisms and bacterial phenotypes that contribute to antibiotic treatment failures, with a particular focus on Mycobacterium abscessus. His team develops innovative technologies, which they combine with computational methods and integrate into clinical studies. Their work aims to identify genetic determinants and clinical implications of bacterial behaviours, paving the way for advanced therapeutic strategies.
