Dr. Shawna McCallin’s research focuses on innovation and clinical translation in the field of phage therapy. She has been involved in multiple phase l and ll clinical trials testing phage for the treatment of diarrhea, S. aureus carriage, and urinary tract infections, as well as establishing experimental use programs in Switzerland. Currently, she is organizing a clinical trial using engineered phage for the treatment of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) and her research involves both the wet lab and the creation of clinical databases for phage therapy. She is also Secretary of the ESCMID study group for Non-Traditional Antibacterial Therapy (ESGNTA).
