Sibyl Anthierens

Prof. Dr. Sibyl Anthierens, a social scientist and qualitative research expert, is based at the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health, Faculty of Health and Medicine, UAntwerpen, Belgium. As a member of the coordinating committee of ECRAID (European Clinical Research Alliance on Infectious Diseases), she has played a pivotal role in advancing social science research integrated into large-scale European projects.

Her work delves into the social and behavioral dimensions of healthcare, exploring all relevant stakeholders experiences during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. A significant focus of her research lies in improving antibiotic prescribing practices among healthcare professionals and patients and fostering positive behaviour change to enhance primary care. Prof. Anthierens is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practice by implementing evidence-based interventions that resonate with both healthcare providers and patients—ultimately driving meaningful improvements in healthcare.
