York Zöllner
York Zöllner, pharmacist and health economist (MSc, PhD), of birth cohort 1971, is full professor of Health Economics at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences since 2010. Before joining academia, he was director of research in a consulting firm where he further developed the contract research portfolio, conceptualized market access studies, pricing and reimbursement strategies and developed patient-reported outcome measures. Prior to joining the consulting field, York headed the Global Health Economics department of a mid-sized European pharmaceutical company. He began his scientific career at Humboldt University Berlin where he was researcher in the Social Pharmacy department, obtaining his doctorate in 2004.
York is regularly invited as a speaker, expert advisor and meeting chair at various national and international forums, organized by stakeholders from the private and public sector alike. He is well published in the fields of health economics, health policy and social impact investing. He was head of the section “health insurance” of the German Society of Health Economics; he is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Medical Economics (JME).
