Hee-Jong (Jason) Hwang
Hee-Jong (Jason) Hwang is an emerging leader in the field of infectious diseases. He was trained as a synthetic organic chemist at the University of British Columbia, Canada and has over 10 years of expertise in antibacterial development, spanning from the early stage of the development to early clinical developments. He has developed efficient synthetic platforms to derivatize and optimize unexploited marine natural products to address antimicrobial resistance, as well as hard-to-treat, intractable bacterial infections. He co-founded A&J Science in 2021 to bring life-saving new antibiotics to patients in need and to pioneer developmental efforts in Northeast Asian regions, where more innovating companies for AMR are needed. His current endeavors culminated in over $10 million in equity financing and non-dilutive funding. Since the company’s inception, he has secured multiple patents and published eight high-ranked scientific journal articles on the technology and its novel applications.
