
Stefan Hagel
Stefan Hagel, MD, MS completed his medical studies at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany in 2005, gaining international experience in Ireland, Malawi, Zambia, Switzerland and Ethiopia. His interest in infectious diseases developed during his doctoral research on sepsis. After working at the University Hospital of Erlangen, he returned to Jena in 2008. He is specialist in internal medicine, infectious diseases and infection control. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Medical Director at the Institute for Infectious Diseases and Infection Control at the Jena University Hospital. His special interest include research in critically ill patients, including antibiotic therapy of multi-drug resistant organisms and infection control. He got his Master of Science in Clinical Research & Translational Medicine at the University of Leipzig and has performed several Investigator Initiated Trials as principal investigator in the field of infection control and antimicrobial therapy.
